Soho Data Holdings to develop 4k sqm data centre on Soho doorstep
Investment will create first dedicated broadcast data centre in the heart of London’s vibrant media sector
London, 10 January 2011. Soho Data Holdings, sister company to Vision IPTV and Playout247, today signed a £10m agreement with Xiking Culture Media (Beijing), to establish a data centre and render farm, aimed at the creative video and TV industries.
The investment, witnessed by Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg and the Deputy Premier of China, Li Keqiang, will fund the development of a carrier neutral, 4000sqm high-specification data centre, designed to support the latest technology demands for the video animation, 3D TV and internet TV industries; all based in Soho - London’s media heartland.
The centre will offer a full range of data centre services, from co-location, through managed services to high-yield computational capacity, able to support state of the art rendering applications. Aside from the convenience of having a data hub close by, the centre offers highly competitive rates thanks to the shorter data circuits that the local location provides.
Soho Data Holdings already operates a small data centre, Soho Data Centre, providing in-house support to its sister businesses, Vision IPTV and Playout247.

Xiking Culture Media already operates a TV channel in the UK, Propeller TV. Sister company to Vision IPTV, and Playout247, Soho Data Holdings has been formed to acquire a long term 35 year head-lease on a central London property and to build and operate a new data centre. It will also develop plans to enhance the building adding several more floors which will be commercially rented.
